I’ve loved all of it, but photography has always had a special place in my heart. From the first time I printed out one of my very own pictures in the dark room in 7th grade, to my stay-at-home-mom days crawling around on the floor to get the perfect picture of my daughter, I’d always loved the stolen moments of life that you can isolate with the lens. Don’t get me wrong - it can be infuritating to struggle to capture just the right shot with just the right lighting, but when you get it right - it’s an amazing feeling! And to be able to show the world how beautiful my amazing friends are, well, that’s what we in New Orleans would call lagniappe – a little something extra! : )
Lately, I have found myself drawn to the burlesque scene here in New Orleans. I’m constantly surprised at how much there is to see, and how diverse it all is! It’s hard to describe to someone who’s never seen a true burlesque show…it’s not just a fancy word for “stripping”!! It’s a true art form, and the most comprehensive celebration of femininity I’ve ever been honored to shoot. These performers come in all shapes, colors and sizes, and it’s truly awe-inspiring to watch them OWN that stage! Stay tuned as I continue to explore this new-found world with camera in hand!
TONYA….YOU HAVE ALWAY BEEN EXTREMELY TALENTED AT EVERYTHING YOU DO, BUT OMG…YOUR PICTURES ARE BEAUTIFUL AND SHOW YOUR AMAZING PERSONALITY…CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU COME UP WITH NEXT. I LOVE YA GIRL..
